Community Engagement Officer

The key task of the Community Engagement Officer is to identify a variety of local volunteer opportunities and recruit local people.  Progressive training routes will be identified enabling them to build up their confidence and skills. 

This will help to address removing the barriers to work as well as other issues such as transport and poverty. 

The Community Engagement Officer will bring together local people and agencies to ensure appropriate action is taken to improve resources and the areas that need addressing identified within the action plan. 

The worker will be involved in the implementation of the following activity:

·        Recruit local people and engage them in the setting up of a Transport Sub-Group and Poverty Sub-Group

·        Bridge the Gap project –young and old exchanging skills to promote the potential for economic development.

·        Outreach work to encourage agencies to provide drop in sessions at base.

·        Utilise base for agency networking.

·        Undertake a feasibility of community buildings.

·        Engage local residents in regeneration through an Environment Sub-group to actively seek funding to develop open spaces for recreation and leisure facilities.

·        Engage local residents in regeneration through a Youth Sub-Group and facilitate activities and projects for young people working in partnership with BMBC Youth Service.

·        Develop a local volunteer opportunities job shop.

·        Develop a volunteer support group

·        Undertake a skills audit to identify the gaps in knowledge and skills.

·        Identify the future development needs of local groups and the Darfield Community Association.

·        Review the progress of the activity identified in the Community Action Plan.
