Community Recreation & Activity WorkerOur Community Recreation & Activity Worker is Adam White who is based at the Darfield Office and can be contacted on 01226 754747 or by email adam.white@darfield.info Within the Darfield Project Team a worker is employed who works on removing barriers to work by providing opportunities and activity that will engage local people. Activities are organised to enable people to develop transferable skills in time keeping, teamwork, communication, organisational, confidence building and discipline. The activities also engage them in sports activity, diversionary activity, which will have an impact on crime and the social economy. Links have been formed and will continue to be maintained with the local schools, groups and encourage local people to become volunteers. The main focus will be to work with young people to address the need to provide diversionary activity for those of school age and also target unemployed young people in the 16-19 age group. Activities will also try and engage both the older and younger generations to break down misconceptions and enable them to share skills. The worker will be involved in the following activity: · Utilise existing facilities to provide a variety of activities. · Set up new activities/clubs for young people integrating into the wider community such as: Rugby, Fun Runs, and Exercise by conservation projects. · Link exercise to Pre-School children and Young Parents e.g. music movement. · Provide exercise/play sessions on recreational areas e.g. Darfield Park, Bellbrooke estate. · To organise training for local people to obtain coaching awards e.g. JSLA for young people. · To organise activities that will encourage social interaction within families e.g. lads and dads residential event. |
